In that game, Murray was playing like Iginla had a "hit me" sign taped to his jersey.Other guys like Ryane Clowe and Marc-Edouard Vlasic have started to play more physical and be stronger on the puck as well. But in general, the Sharks have lacked the edge that they should be playing with. When you think of leaders for San Jose, you think of Rob Blake, Joe Thornton, Dan Boyle, and Patrick Marleau. But during a time when the Sharks are sliding down the Pacific Division mountain, it might be advantageous to watch the way No. 3 has played for them this season.Murray has played solid stay-at-home defenseman for San Jose this season, and his physicality gives the Sharks the bite that all teams need in order to win.. A decision that contrasts Boston’s rival, the recently re-stocked powerhouse New York Yankees.Cameron and the Red Sox have reportedly reached an agreement on a two-year deal worth roughly $15.5 million.Cameron, 36, is an elite defender in center field and has three Gold Glove Awards to his name as a result. It isn’t yet known if the Sox will use Cameron in center or left, but given last year’s low defensive ratings of incumbent center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury, it would make sense to move Ellsbury to left and allow Cameron to roam center at Fenway Park.Throughout his big league, career Cameron has played 1,699 games in center field, 139 games in right, and just three in left field. He did, however, express a willingness to shift to a corner spot earlier this offseason in an attempt to entice more suitors.Cameron brings much more to the table than just his glove. He is a .250/.340/.448 career hitter with 265 home runs in 15 seasons spent with the White Sox, Reds, Mariners, Padres, Mets, and the Brewers.Over the past four years he has averaged 23 home runs and 75 RBI to go with 16 stolen bases per season.Cameron could thrive moving from Milwaukee’s spacious Miller Park to the more hitter-friendly confines of Fenway Park.Cameron also has a reputation for being an upstanding clubhouse presence and a mentor to younger players. He figures to have a profound impact on Ellsbury who is very talented and has a flair for the dramatic plays. Ellsbury also has a reputation of getting bad reads and taking poor routes to balls, both of which impacted his defensive decline last season. The Cubs, Braves, Padres, and Mariners were all rumored to have interest in Cameron.Chicago had waited to pursue Cameron until the club was able to clear salary by moving outfielder Milton Bradley and Seattle was reportedly preoccupied trying to sign the aforementioned Jason Bay.Undoubtedly, their loss is the Red Sox gain as the club continues to stockpile talent in one of the busiest days of the offseason.Cameron will no doubt prove to be a great acquisition for the Red Sox and at a substantially more reasonable price than Bay or Holliday would have required.. Today started out as a routine Monday and then this afternoon the Hot Stove really started burning up.Monday's are usually a big football day with all of the analysis of the Sunday games and looking ahead to the Monday night game but baseball took center stage on this Monday. The Boston Red Sox were especially busy signing pitcher John Lackey to a 5 yr 85 million dollar deal and now pending a physical signing Mike Cameron for 2 yrs and 15.5 million.Hideki Matsui became the first World Series MVP to leave since John Wetteland in 1996.Matsui signed a 1 yr 6 million dollar deal with the Anaheim Angels. The biggest news of the day was that Roy Halladay was traded from the Blue Jays to the Phillies and the Phillies traded Cliff Lee to the Seattle Mariners and the Blue Jays are getting back prospects which we don't know yet because Halladay is still working out the extension and the deal won't be official to maybe tomorrow.I think the Seattle Mariners have had a good offseason and may have surpassed the Angels by getting Chone Figgons and now Cliff Lee.The New York Mets and their fans have had a very bad day.The Mets biggest need was pitching and now they don't have anywhere to turn as their are no other big pitchers left. They may land Jason Bay now that everyone else is out on that but that isn't going to solve the problem of having Johan Santana and then a bunch of questions.Roy Halladay going to the hated Phillies is just a stab in the heart but the truth is they aren't that much better since they did trade Cliff Lee away. The Yankees side of things isn't really all that bad, they don't have to face Halladay anymore who owned them and John Lackey doesn't have very good numbers against the Yankees and he has really bad career numbers in Fenway.John Lackey is also a injury risk as he has been injury prone over the last couple of years.I don't think it was terrible for the Red Sox because you can never have enough pitching and he is a gritty guy who usually pitches well in big games.I do find their offense curious though with Bay gone and being replaced by Cameron and maybe Hermidia in a platoon. It doesn't look like the Lowell trade will go through now since he has a thumb injury and may need surgery.I wonder if the Red Sox may try and trade for Adrian Gonzalez and move Youkilis to third baseIf they did this I think they would be pretty even with the Yankees but right now as a Yankee fan I don't think you have to be that worried because I don't think their offense is so great.I wonder what tomorrow will bring with the Hot Stove after this busy day. This is the most ridiculous schedule I’ve ever seen.”Personally, I believe Adelman has every right to be upset about the Rockets having to play four back-to-back games between now and Christmas week.“It’s utterly ridiculous,” Adelman said. “But that’s the schedule we have; it’s just the way it is and we’re just going to have to respond to it.”The Rockets get that chance to respond beginning Tuesday evening at Toyota Center when they host the Detroit Pistons, followed by a trip to Denver to face the Nuggets on Wednesday.Their next back-to-back comes just two days later, when Houston hits the road for Dallas on Friday before returning home to face Oklahoma City on Saturday.“We have a horrendous stretch here,” Adelman said. 22 against the LA Clippers and a road trip to face the Orlando Magic on Dec 23, followed by road matchups against New Jersey on Dec 26 and Cleveland on Dec. 27.Regardless of Houston’s continual tough schedule over the coming weeks, the Rockets must prove they can handle this challenge as they aim to improve on their 13-10 record.Adelman does a great job working with the players on his team in getting them to play to the best of their ability, and I have no doubt he’ll have the Rockets prepared for this end of the year stretch. With born leaders such as Shane Battier leading those guys on the hardwood, look for Houston to bounce back in a big way when they host the Pistons tomorrow night at Toyota Center. The Rockets are truly contenders; now it’s time to get out there and prove it to the rest of the league and the world… Denton Ramsey may be reached via email at . Former IBF junior welterweight champion Paul “the Magic Man” Malignaggi defeated past unified WBA, WBO and IBF world lightweight titlist Juan “Baby Bull” Diaz by unanimous decision in their rematch Saturday night at the UIC Pavilion in Chicago. Malignaggi (27-3, 5 KOs), a Brooklyn native who was awarded Ring Magazine’s comeback of the year in 2007, dominated Diaz (34-2, 17 KOs) and all three judges declared him victorious by the identical score of 116-111. In their initial encounter this past summer at the Toyota Center in Diaz’s hometown of Houston, Texas, the “Baby Bull” won a highly-controversial unanimous decision over Malignaggi. Malignaggi, 29, justifiably claimed that the three judges were biased and he contended that their scoring blatantly favored Diaz, 26, strictly because he hails from “Space City.” To legitimize Malignaggi’s outcry, impartial and, unfortunately, unofficial HBO scorer Harold Lederman had “the Magic Man” winning the contest 115-113. This weekend, the flamboyant Malignaggi sagely pressed ahead and refused to allow the smaller Diaz to get inside to land combinations. Malignaggi is a talented pugilist and with diligence and a touch of “Magic,” he may continue to accumulate belts for years to come.
